چکیده

Chrysanthellum americanum is a medicinal plant widely used in the North region of Cameroon for treatment epilepsy and convulsion. This study aimed to investigate acute subacute toxicity aqueous extract C. using experimental rodent models. For test, single dose 27.69, 69.22, 138.45, 276.9 5000 mg/kg was administered orally mice. In study, rats at doses 100, 250, 500 1000 mg/kg/day 28 days; finally, biochemical, haematological, histological analysis were performed. The highest (5000 mg/kg) did not induce mortality. However, sub-acute treatment, an increase white blood cell platelet levels observed haematological parameters. A slight decrease cholesterol hepatic enzyme (ALAT, ASAT) biochemical parameters noticed compared control group. From this it can be concluded that considered safe oral administration tested since cause lethality or undesirable effects general behaviour.
